ABA's Maryland Marvels announce rosterPublished 11/08/09
After an extensive series of tryouts and exhibition games, the Maryland Marvels selected 10 members for its 2009-2010 basketball roster. The American Basketball Association team will be playing its home games at Severn School this winter. Team members include: Rogers Barnes (Howard County), Guard, 6-1, 190 pounds; played for Morgan State University Eric Bigby (Prince George's County), Forward, 6-6, 205; played for Liberty University. Anthony Breland (Howard County), Forward, 6-6, 190; played for Cape Breton University Maurice Davis (Anne Arundel County), Guard, 6-2, 230; played for ABA's West Virginia Blazers Ronald Grant (New York), Guard, 5-9, 190; played for Lon Morris College Daryl Moore (Prince George's County), Guard, 6-2, 180; played for Fort Valley State University Jamel White (Washington, D.C.), Guard, 6-3, 190; played for Gallaudet University Kenneth Simms (Dover, Dl.), Forward/Center, 6-8, 245; played for Cumberland University. Kyle Sullivan (Clarksville) Shooting Guard/Small Forward, 6-3, 180; played or St. Mary's College of Maryland Sam Wallace (New York), Center, 6-11, 300; played for Elizabeth City State University. "We selected these players based on their extraordinary skills to represent the Maryland Marvels and the ABA as well as an opportunity to build positive role models in the community," commented James Agbai, owner and general manager of the Maryland Marvels. The season opener will be played on Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. at the Edward St. John Athletic Center at the Severn School. The Maryland Marvels will compete against the EBA's Salem Mustangs in a pre-season exhibition game on Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. at the Severn School.
