Police officers assigned to seven middle schoolsPublished 01/28/01
Starting tomorrow, armed county police officers will start a new beat patroling the halls of seven troubled county middle schools. With the help of an $875,000 federal grant, county police officers for the first time will be working as full-time school resource officers, serving as mentors and educating students about law enforcement. Officers have been assigned to Annapolis Middle, Bates Middle and the Learning Center, an alternative school. Four more officers will go to Meade Middle and MacArthur Middle on Fort George G.
