Study finds new electronic voting system vulnerablePublished 07/25/03
A new electronic voting system being installed in Anne Arundel County and 19 other jurisdictions this fall has "significant security flaws" that could allow multiple votes to be cast without a trace, according to a study released yesterday. A team of independent computer security researchers found the Diebold Election System is vulnerable to unscrupulous voters, as well as "insiders such as poll workers, software developers and even janitors."
