Most voters willing to pay $50 annual fee to clean up bayPublished 10/12/04
A majority of voters polled by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation say they would be willing to fork over $50 a year to help clean up the bay. In a poll of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C. voters released this morning, 64 percent of respondents said they'd pay $50 for an annual bay tax. Thirty-three percent were opposed, and 3 percent were undecided. The poll of 1,215 registered voters was conducted July 28 to Aug. 5 by two firms that referred to themselves as a "bipartisan research team"- Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin & Associates and Public Opinion Strategies.
