Teen's life inspires sickle cell foundationPublished 11/20/04
Lauren D. Beck had a gift for comedy, cracking jokes and sending her family and friends into fits of laughter. "You would just be falling down," said her aunt, Tara Downs Sanders of Lanham. "She was just so funny and I miss that." Just 17, Miss Beck was completing a nursing program and about to graduate from Annapolis High School this spring when, with little warning, she died from complications from sickle-cell anemia.
