Overloaded outlet sparks fire in Cape St. Claire An electrical fire tore through a house in Cape St. Claire overnight, doing about $45,000 damage and displacing two people, a county Fire Department spokesman said. Division Chief John Scholz said the fire at 1293 Swan Drive started just before midnight, apparently because of an overloaded outlet in a front bedroom. Owner Catherine Salaf and her son were home at the time. The son heard a noise when the fire started and briefly tried to put it out before getting out of the house and calling 911 at 11:55 p.m., Chief Scholz said. "Trying to fight a fire yourself can...
