Dean & DeLuca's Market House deal raises questionsPublished 03/17/05
Dean & DeLuca will pay half the going rate for downtown commercial space when it moves into Annapolis' Market House, drawing the ire of the alderwoman who represents the area and some neighboring merchants. The gourmet grocer is set to pay about $20 a square foot in the first year of a proposed 20-year lease for the city-owned market. The current rate for commercial real estate around the Market House is $40 to $45, according to a local real estate agent.
