Maryland consumers who love their Chardonnay won't get any relief from yesterday's U.S. Supreme Court ruling striking down a ban on buying wine from other states over the Internet. A spokesman for State Comptroller William Donald Schaefer said Maryland's "three-tier" restrictions are still in place, despite a 5-4 ruling that overturned laws in New York and Michigan making it illegal to buy wine directly from out-of-state vineyards. Like Maryland, Michigan and New York require that wine can only be sold from the producer to the wholesaler to the retailer. But in Michigan, in-state licensed wineries also could ship directly to...
