On Sunday, veteran TV news anchor Peter Jennings died of lung cancer. The next day, actress Barbara Bel Geddes, who played matriarch Miss Ellie Ewing on the long-running TV show "Dallas," died of the same disease. In May, it was Baltimore radio personality Bob Lopez. And on Tuesday, actor Christopher Reeve's widow, Dana, announced she has lung cancer. Many doctors hope the celebrity cases of lung cancer will bring attention to the devastating and often deadly disease, convincing Americans to consider their risk factors for lung cancer.
