Local church delivers donations to survivors in Miss., Ala.Published 09/11/05
MOBILE, Ala. -- Imogene Williams spent most of Hurricane Katrina in a tree. As the waters rose, drowning people and submerging cars, she and her housemates gathered on the third floor of their home in Gulfport, Miss. The first floor flooded, and five minutes later the second one did, too. Ms. Williams and nine others gathered in one room and prayed. But the water kept coming. "It's just like, I don't see where the water came from," Ms. Williams said. "It was like a big ice sea came in." Chased out of their last refuge, the 10 people climbed out a window to a large oak tree. They stayed there for five hours waiting...
