Just a week after the school system opened its emergency communications center, it got its first tests yesterday with a couple of unexpected incidents. A gas leak in Glen Burnie forced students to evacuate and power outages at two Severna Park schools sent administrators scrambling to make arrangements for kids. It was all coordinated through the communications center that opened last week. From the central offices on Riva Road, security officials now keep tabs on happenings in the district's 120 schools and seven administration buildings.
