Only one thing could have cleared crowd-stricken Annapolis on a Saturday in which two of its most popular events overlapped for the first time in eight years - a day-long downpour of incredible proportions. Almost 5 inches of rain fell on Annapolis yesterday, drenching a sold-out crowd of 37,000 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, and nearly halting the United States Sailboat Show dead in its tracks and setting a new daily record for rainfall.
