Maryland Department of Natural Resources scientists say the infamous northern snakehead fish, which was recently found to be reproducing by the boatload on the Virginia banks of the Potomac River, is destined to make its way back to Maryland waters soon.
"It's an open system. There are no walls and no doors," said Steve Early, assistant director of DNR's Fisheries Service, describing the migration of the nonnative Asian species from neighboring Virginia waters into local tributaries.
