Ehrlich troubled by decision to turn over ports to Arab firm

Gov. Robert Ehrlich Jr., concerned about security at the Port of Baltimore, said yesterday he is "very troubled  that state officials got no advance notice before the Bush administration approved an Arab company's takeover of operations at six U.S. ports, including the Port of Baltimore.

"We needed to know before this was a done deal, given the state of where are concerning security," Mr. Ehrlich, a Republican, told reporters at an informal news conference in the State House rotunda.

He said the state is considering its options, up to and including voiding the contract for the Port of Baltimore.
