Six candidates vying for school board seat

Six candidates have applied for the single open seat on the county school board - the largest field in seven years.

Among them are three Crofton residents, a retired school administrator, a White House lawyer and a former railroad chief financial officer.

All filed papers by the March 1 deadline with the School Board Nominating Convention to compete for the District 33 seat being vacated by Paul G. Rudolph of Severna Park.

"It's amazing," convention chairman Mark Fontaine said. "That's about the only way I can describe it."
