Hot dogs are good, but hot dachshunds are bad. With temperatures rising - the mercury was expected to reach 75 degrees today - police and animal rights advocates are reminding people to keep their pets at home and never leave them unattended in a parked car. "Even with the windows open it can get very hot," said Sue Beatty, executive director of the Anne Arundel County SPCA, dismissing the myth that cracking a car window will negate the oven-like conditions.
