Gas prices forcing some boaters to rethink plans

Soaring fuel prices are driving commuters mad during the week, but they also are putting a dent in weekend recreation on the waters of the Chesapeake.

Power boaters tooling around the bay and its tributaries are feeling the pinch, forcing some - but not all - to adjust their boating habits.

"I started changing a bit last year," said Olney urologist Rick Kurnot aboard his craft, Sea Metopee III, a small cabin cruiser moored at Annapolis Landing.

He now tries to milk the most out of a tank of fuel, limiting his cruises out of Annapolis.
