A 17-year-old former Broadneck High School student accused of leaving her newborn son in a trash can to die has been charged as an adult with second-degree murder, county prosecutors announced this morning. A grand jury indicted Megan Rene Patria on Friday, and the indictment was unsealed yesterday afternoon after she turned herself into authorities. She was being held this morning at the county detention center on $750,000 bail. The murder charge carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
