Wave of robberies in Annapolis targets HispanicsPublished 06/05/06
A man killed during a robbery outside a Parole liquor store was the latest victim in an alarming rise in crimes against Hispanic immigrants, city police said. City police have increased patrols in parts Annapolis with large concentrations of immigrants, such as the Forest Drive corridor, Bay Ridge Avenue and Hilltop Lane. Police also are planning to hire a community services worker to double the efforts of Hispanic liaison Gustavo Caballero. But the position will not be filled until the new budget begins July 1.
