At schools and fire stations, libraries and arts centers, people exercised their right to vote this morning.
Polls opened at 7 a.m. for registered Democrats and Republicans to vote in primary races. All locations will stay open until 8 p.m., and anyone in line at that time will be allowed to cast their ballots.
Voting didn't get off to a smooth start in some places, though.
There were scattered reports of problems at various polling places this morning. Some problems were related to the voting machines, while other problems were due to a lack of manpower, said Barbara Fisher, elections chief for Anne Arundel County.
