Plane skids off runway : Slams into fence behind Ledo's Pizza in EdgewaterPublished 10/07/06
A twin-engine plane hydroplaned, slid into a fence and wound up in the gravel lot of a small strip mall while coming in for a landing at Lee Airport yesterday afternoon. The Beech, piloted by Scott Ducker of Atlanta, was landing at the Edgewater airport just before 4 p.m. when the wheels touched down and the aircraft slid off the slick runway, said Lt. Alex Makris, a county fire department spokesman. The plane went through a fence, causing the landing gear to break off and scatter.
