In a world filled with people who channel surf or fast forward their TiVos during television commercials, Web site designers know they have a fraction of a second to snare wavering attention spans.
"Thirty seconds is a long time," said Liz Thibodeau, a project and account manager at Take One Digital Media in Annapolis.
Half a minute is more time than designers hope someone will stare at even the best-designed Web pages. In the infancy of the Internet, just having a Web presence may have been enough, but now businesses are finding they need to keep their sites fresh and attractive to lure customers' eyes.
