As Kristopher Kraft headed into the post office in Harundale last month, he had no idea he was about to save someone's life.
Around 3 p.m. Oct. 17, the 26-year-old Pasadena man was checking his mailbox when he heard loud noises coming from the Gem Boutique jewelry store next door.
He went outside and saw broken glass in front of the store. Then he saw a woman waving a butcher's knife at the owner, Mimi Arbabi. Without thinking, Mr. Kraft ran inside and yelled at the woman to drop her weapon. She ran at him, but he knocked her down and pinned her to the floor.
