Leopold wins executive race

John Leopold last night won the race to be the seventh Anne Arundel County executive as the tally of absentee ballots gave the Pasadena Republican a nearly 4,000-vote lead over Democrat George F. Johnson IV.

With Sheriff Johnson's hopes for victory all but extinguished, Mr. Leopold said the sheriff called him late last night to concede.
