Funny money foils counterfeit-detection pensPublished 11/14/06
Employees at two Marley Station Mall stores made sure to use their counterfeit detection pens last week on five $100 bills that crossed their palms.
Too bad the pens didn't work.
County police said all five bills - passed at Oriental Treasures and Body Basics Nov. 7 - were doctored in order to beat the specially marketed iodine pens. The Capital will not release the method police believe the counterfeiters used to foil the pens.
