Nevada attorney buys bay landmark

In a year's time an amphibious car could putter up to the Bloody Point Bar lighthouse in the Chesapeake Bay if its new owner has his way.

AP photo/Capital graphic Nevada attorney Michael Gabriel recently purchased the 120-year old Bloody Point Bar lighthouse off Kent Island for $100,000 in a recent government auction. The lighthouse was gutted by a fire in 1960, but Mr. Gabriel plans to restore the structure.

Carson City, Nev., attorney Michael Gabriel purchased the historic lighthouse, which sits off of Kent Island, last week for $100,000, bidding on the structure in a federal auction.

The 53-year-old attorney, owner of Lawyer at Large, which publishes a series of self-help legal books, is an avid sailing buff who also owns a pair of antique amphibious cars.

Now the 120-year-old Bloody Point lighthouse will be the latest addition to his collection.
