Naval model maker Don Preul (Revell Downs) holds the hull of a lifeboat that was aboard the USS Arizona, sunk during the attack at Pearl Harbor. He builds ship and aircraft models for the nation's premier defense contractors and is so busy his company, J&D Productions, is booked solid for the next three years. But while those big clients pay the bills and praise his technical execution of the details, it's seeing the looks on the faces of men who served on the ships he models that is his real reward.
