This fire last year ripped through three buildings in the 100 block of Main Street in Annapolis. Another fire two weeks ago has renewed calls for sprinkler systems in downtown structures.
But while Alderwoman Julie Stankivic, I-Ward 6, wants fire-dousing systems in all Historic District commercial buildings, Alderman David Cordle, R-Ward 5, prefers a gradual approach. The two are working on separate bills that could call on businesses and homes across Annapolis to install sprinklers.
