Alderman Sam Shropshire, D-Ward 7, said he has been working on a bill to ban smoking citywide for about six months and plans to introduce it at the Feb. 12 City Council meeting. He said he was especially eager to introduce a bill after he learned the city would be able to opt out of a proposed countywide smoking ban.
"Apparently this is the perfect storm to implement this legislation," he said. "The county can create an opt out and I want to make sure we don't opt out."
