County executive John R. Leopold asked Gov. Martin O'Malley this morning to speed up the widening of Route 175 so that it will coincide with growth at Fort George G. Meade.
The Defense Information Systems Agency will open at the base by 2011 and the completion date for the Route 175 project is planned for 2013. Mr. Leopold sent a letter to Mr. O'Malley requesting a quicker timetable for the road widening so the infrastructure would be in place when thousands of new workers arrive.
