Former county Sheriff George F. Johnson IV will be pinning on a badge once again after being named yesterday as the top cop of the state Natural Resources Police. John R. Griffin, Gov. Martin O'Malley's nominee for secretary of the Department of Natural Resources, appointed Col. Johnson as police superintendent effective immediately, overseeing 214 officers who patrol the state's waterways and parkland. Col. Johnson called the appointment a "phenomenal opportunity.
