John R. Griffin, Gov. Martin O'Malley's nominee for secretary of the Department of Natural Resources, appointed Col. Johnson as police superintendent effective immediately, overseeing 214 officers who patrol the state's waterways and parkland.
Col. Johnson called the appointment a "phenomenal opportunity. I couldn't be more proud to be working for the governor and Secretary Griffin."
