One by one, host Mario Lopez read off the names of the 10 Miss America finalists: Miss Texas .. Miss Pennsylvania .. Miss Alabama ... As he read each name, hope dimmed a little bit in Jessica Awad's Crofton living room. Ten young women were gathered there last night to cheer on their friend, Miss Maryland Brittany Lietz. But Mr. Lopez never read Ms. Lietz's name. The ladies let out a collective "awwwwww." Faces fell. A few tears were shed.
