State helps county nonprofits rejected by LeopoldPublished 07/07/07
Two nonprofit organizations that lost funding in the county budget - including one criticized by County Executive John R. Leopold for potentially serving illegal immigrants - are getting help from the state to keep their doors open. The state Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation has given $100,000 in grants to Centro de Ayuda and the Opportunities Industrialization Center, organizations focused on helping the county's Hispanic and African American populations.
