When President Bush and Congress touted the landmark No Child Left Behind education law, some said they left something out: learning about the great outdoors.

Rep. John Sarbanes speaks about a bill he is pushing to strengthen outdoor/environmental education, called "No Child Left Inside."
With its emphasis on reading and math and testing, the law's unintended consequence is that science and the ecology are getting short shrift in classrooms, environmentalists and education activists charge.
