The persistent lack of rain that's turning your lawn brown and crunchy is doing an even worse number on local farmers.

Farmer Bill Crispens surveys young tomato plants at his Millersville farm. He's had to attach a large tank of water to his tractor and "just let the water run" as he drives over the plants.
At Crispens Farm in Millersville, the cucumbers are starting to shrivel, the young tomato plants are wilting and even the sunflowers are drooping.
"We're desperate for rain," said farmer Bobi Crispens, who also manages a farmers market in Annapolis. "Right now, it's affecting just about everything." Ms. Crispens said that with occasional rain and irrigation, "we're just holding on."
