New federal jobs coming to Maryland could further distance the haves and have-nots of homeownership.
People who earn $50,000 or less may have trouble finding an affordable home once more high-wage earners move in to the area, officials said yesterday during the state Base Realignment and Closure, or BRAC, Subcabinet meeting at Quiet Waters Park.
"Clearly, clearly it has reached crisis proportions," said County Executive John R. Leopold.
State planners predict more than 45,000 new jobs will arrive at Maryland military installations by 2014. Many of these jobs will be high paying, more than $80,000 planners...
