Cameras are either the best thing that could happen to a criminal courtroom or the worst.
A special work group formed by the state judiciary to review its policy of banning cameras from criminal trials got an earful last night, hearing from several legal and media groups about the pros and cons of opening a courtroom to the broadcast media.
Maryland is one of 16 states that don't allow cameras in criminal trials, although media may record some of the state's civil hearings if all lawyers involved agree, according to the Maryland DC Delaware Broadcasters Association. Last night, the lawyers - both prosecutors and defense...
