A Parole doctor's reading of a sonogram in September 2000 found nothing wrong with the Downs on the Severn woman.
Seven months later, though, Sherri Schaefer was diagnosed with uterine and ovarian cancer. She died May 18, 2005.
Claiming the delay amounted to malpractice and resulted in his wife's death, Charles Marcantonio sued Dr. Melissa Moen of Women's OB/GYN in Parole. In the wrongful death lawsuit, he said she and Dr. Paula Decandido of Anne Arundel Diagnostics Inc. - the doctor who interpreted the sonogram - didn't order enough tests in the beginning and missed a 1.5 cm. ovarian mass on the sonogram.
