Facing the politically risky choice of imposing as much as a ten-fold increase in the impact fees the county charges developers, the County Council last night decided to hire its own expert to study the numbers.
The council was wary of the results of the original study from which County Executive John R. Leopold based his proposal for the dramatic increases.
"We just thought it would be a good idea to have another set of eyes on it," said Councilman Ed Reilly, R-Crofton. "We want to take our time and have a good public discussion before we make these public policies."
