Small businesses that struggle to pay private contractors for recycling pickups could soon have a new option: curbside collection by the county.
The County Council will consider a bill that would establish a voluntary recycling program for businesses. Participants would have to pay for the service, but the intention is to make it more affordable than hiring a private recycling hauler.
County Executive John R. Leopold submitted the bill to the County Council in hopes of getting more businesses to recycle.
