Following the prescription of a federal court decree, earth-moving equipment workers began removing a St. Margarets shoreline that was illegally expanded four years ago.
William and Janice Costello and their engineer had to pay $50,000 in fines under a deal with federal authorities. The Costellos had said the work was done to repair damage caused by Tropical Storm Isabel.
The Costellos are responsible for removing nearly a quarter acre of land brought in to "repair" damage from the storm, which hit in September 2003.
