Recycling trucks in Anne Arundel County rumble through neighborhoods, transporting soda cans and newspapers that would otherwise rot in landfills.
But while the trucks serve residents, they drive right past the businesses.
A new program approved by the County Council last week would launch Anne Arundel's first-ever curb-side recycling program for businesses, at prices as low as $75 a year. The county collects about 42,000 tons of recyclables from residents each year, but virtually none from businesses who use reams of paper and whose employees use other recyclable products each day.
