A small group of bird lovers gathered near the Severn River yesterday to bid farewell to a feisty red-shouldered hawk named Roberta.
As Roberta soared to a perch on a nearby treetop, the group marveled at how different the bird looked than when they discovered it covered in mud in early January in the headwaters of Back Creek.
On Jan. 6, neighbors who live along the creek in neighborhoods off of Bay Ridge Avenue in Annapolis spotted the hawk foundering in the mud while being pestered by crows.
