Judge accused in dumping blames troubles on Leopold

A Baltimore District Court judge charged with illegally using construction debris to repair his shoreline in Pasadena blames County Executive John R. Leopold for his legal woes.

Attorneys for Judge Askew W. Gatewood Jr. claim the county executive's public comments in November about the case amounted to "political pressure."

They said Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler is singling out Judge Gatewood for "considerably more severe treatment than others who are alleged to have committed similar violations" because of his prominence in the community and maybe even because their client is an African...
