Violent crime down, thefts up in Anne ArundelPublished 03/12/08
Violent crime and traffic fatalities in Anne Arundel dropped slightly last year, while property crimes such as burglaries and thefts jumped 8 percent, according to a county police analysis of 2007 crime statistics.
County officers responded to 62,745 crime incidents overall last year - 137 fewer than they investigated in 2006. The statistics only include Anne Arundel and do not cover Annapolis city or cases handled by Maryland State Police.
