Impact fee committee has proposalPublished 04/18/08
In a split-decision this week, a committee appointed by the County Council decided developers should pay for 80 percent of the impact their projects have on schools, roads and other public infrastructure.
Current impact fees cover between 10 and 22 percent of those costs.
The disparity between what developers pay now and what the group wants them pay is so large that members of the Impact Fee Advisory Committee suggest the higher fees be phased in over five years.
