After months of negotiations, Congress sent a farm bill to the president yesterday that includes $440 million to help Chesapeake Bay region farmers implement eco-friendly practices.
And while President Bush has threatened to veto the $290 billion bill, saying it spends too much money and gives too many subsidies to well-off farmers, the House and Senate have enough votes to override such a move.
Environmentalists were quick to praise the millions for bay region farmers included in the bill.
