The County Council yesterday gave area schools an additional $13.9 million, funded $10.7 million in studies to determine the best way to renovate six schools and effectively killed a controversial 3-percent hotel tax increase. Find Us On Facebook
To cover the additional expenses and loss of revenue, the council followed the suggestions of the county auditor and nixed $26 million from the county's $1.22 billion spending plan and raided several different reserve funds.
