Workers on State Circle may notice the area has become quieter as of late, due to the absence of one of Gov. Martin O'Malley's family dogs.

Scout, one of the O'Malley family dogs, was recently given to family friends after he 'nipped' the O'Malley's 5-year-old son Jack.Scout, a 4-year-old Airedale terrier mix, recently was given to family friends after he bit 5-year-old Jack O'Malley, first lady Katie O'Malley said. People working on State Circle said the dog's barking has been a nuisance in the past, as well. Mrs. O'Malley said Scout became aggressive after the O'Malleys moved to the Governor's Mansion because of the constant activity and lack of structure in the house.
