Sidewalk tax crumbling?

Published 06/20/08

But after receiving at least 60 negative phone calls about the tax, she realized they may have been mistaken.

In response to waves of criticism from angry residents, city council members are now working to repeal, amend, or defend a tax only one of them - Julie Stankivic, R-Ward 6 - voted against.

For her part, Mrs. Hoyle, D-Ward 3, is calling for council members to hold neighborhood meetings to discuss the issue with the...

Moreland Pkwy Crumbling! - 2008-06-21 00:00:19

Hello, I agree with the gentleman above about the Moreland Parkway area. That shortcut near the Capital needs to be fixed (that whole area), as well as the Annapolis Gardens/Captains Circle areas, needs improvement. That would be helpful. Thank you! I'm certainly glad the tax isn't any higher than $25, or I'd be writing a lot more than this, but I see room for improvements, especially if we concentrate on those areas. Thank you :)

Sidewalk Tax - 2008-06-20 23:51:25

I found it interesting that repair and maintenance no longer and does not include painting, you know the fire lanes, no parking etc. Well that is what I am told by public works. And the fire department said they do not paint.

So maybe this is an new way of adding parking spaces, if there is no one to keep up on those silly curb painting, how will we know where we can not park?

Ms. Mayor, I have the cold cash donation just waiting for your sidewalk charity drive. .
BUT, you will have to personally drive and experience 1st hand the dangerous, still in litigation, and pothole-ridden Moreland Parkway to come and collect it yourself. I'm at the far end of Moreland Parkway - You Know - Where that crazy Pothole Guy works!

sidewalk tax - 2008-06-20 14:26:56

The citizens of Annapolis are not "CONFUSED", we are uninformed. Big difference. You snuck this tax under our noses and blame us for having our heads in the sand. Had this been properly notified to the public when the tax was put up for a vote believe me, people would have been there. Especially the ones with no sidewalk in front of their house. City government strikes again. Good job, keep up the good work.
